Here is Ellen’s review of 2023 in her own words.
On the road myself and the team had a hugely successful Rás na mBan with me jumping on the podium at the last possible moment in the Criterium around Kilkenny town. The crowds and atmosphere of that race is something super special for me - especially when my own family can come watch me race!
My biggest adventure of 2023 came when I discovered the world of Gravel racing. Think of it as all the speed of road riding without cars, paired with all the madness of mountain biking without an actual mountain bike. After coming 7th in the elite women's race at the Gralloch up in Scotland I managed to qualify for the World Gravel Champs in Italy. That was a total shock to the system and has made me throw all my efforts into qualifying again in 2024.
This year I'll be racing in the blue and green of Keukens Redant, bombing up some more brutal Belgian cobbled climbs. Luckily the World Gravel Champs are in Belgium this year so job one is to qualify for that!
